Born in San Antonio, Texas, Macias learned the family trade from his father, Alberto Macias. His grandfather, Don Martin Macias started the business of making bajos in Central Texas. It is a proud family tradition. The late Martin Macias was inducted into the Tejano Conjunto Hall of Fame in 1982.
